Where is our Milky Way? For many of us it is gone, obliterated by outdoor lighting that unnecessarily wastes energy, lighting the sky rather than the ground where we walk and drive, using obsolete technology that costs us wasted billions, and eliminates from the night the wonder of stars that once were part of our childhood. And often creates shadows that actually make it less safe.
There is little difference between polluted rivers and polluted skies. And just as we have cleaned our rivers, we can bring the stars back, by being smart about our lighting.
